The booing of Osborne was spectacularly entertaining, the initial jocular look on his face....slowly fading to an "oh shit, they really hate me don't they" look.... :banjmp:

Serves the c*nt right, let no-one ever forget the new improved, nicey, nicey, touchy feely Tory government cut income tax for those earning over £150,000 while reducing disability benefits by 20%.
When did that happen? Oh shit!

The problem with the Paralympics is that it shines a light on a group of highly motivated and determined individuals who happen to have a disability. Somewhat wrecking the bullsh*t Sun and Daily Mail inspired notion that everybody claiming disability benefits is a scrounger.

The Tories are not just economically and organisationally clueless, but ideologically wrong headed as well. The more they open their mouths and say what they actually think, the more the electorate will wise up to them ahead of the next election

Possibly, although a substantial proportion of the electorate are inveterate cunts.

Get them in the paralymics as well then. Might make them turn off the X Factor for a bit and do some exercise.

Am I getting confused with invertebrate?

How does an invertebrate turn off the X Factor and do some exercise?

Apologies, not sure where the 20% figure came from, must have been from some rabid lefty blog I may have stumbled upon..... this fact check on the CH4 website clarifies the situation.

The overall spend isn't actually being reduced (because of the inflationary effect on payments to children and pensioners (which aren't being cut) and the fact that claims are increasing all the time, because hey the population is growing and people are living longer)

The new checking process means that about 500,000 fewer adults will claim DLA by 2015/16, resulting in an expected saving to the Exchequer of £2,240m over three years.
but

The cuts to payments to working-age people - from £7.5bn this year to just under £6.9bn in 2015/16 – stabilises the overall spending figure but doesn’t actually reduce it by much compared to current levels because spending on children and the elderly goes up
I don't profess to be an expert at all but a quick check produced a number of announcements from disability groups that are highly critical of the proposed changes to the old DLA and the new checking process that claimants now have to undergo.

There's also another interesting angle on this explained here http://www.guardian.co.uk/global/patrick-butler-cuts-blog/2012/jun/26/disability-benefit-cuts-will-damage-motability-car-undustry?INTCMP=ILCNETTXT3487
Quote:

Changes in eligibility criteria mean that under PIP around 280,000 disabled people - and almost a third of working age disabled people - will no longer qualify for the enhanced mobility component of DLA that currently enables them to lease a car under the Motability charity scheme.
So the Tories profess to be encouraging disabled people to get back to work, but at the same time are placing a barrier on their ability to do so and harming the economy at the same time.

It's almost as if they're cutting the benefits for ideological reasons to appease those c*nts you mention Ivan....
