Breivik seems to be severely mentally deranged. He's now claiming he spent his time learning how to use a sniper scope on Gears of War, and studied warfare in World of Warcraft, for 16 hours a day each. I'm pretty sure he'll be declared insane. The way he stopped the White Power salute at the request of the officials because it was 'upsetting the grieving families' says to me he's seriously confused.
I'd say its more that his full message isn't being reported. Everything I've seen reported has been more about taking a character assassination angle than just factual reporting, even from the 'quality' papers. Enough of the emotionalised, sensationalised opinion, I want facts.

And video games, eh? The other red meat.

Okay, he's a confused bell-end. He's still a bell-end and all this hullaballoo is only reinforcing that being a bell-end is a means to an end in Norway.

I am slightly concerned that the weirdo guy that sits behind at work all day is a World of Warcraft addict and is prone to sudden violent outbursts, mashing his keyboard and calling everyone "stupid stupid stupid" because they declared what should have been a local variable globally.

I want facts.
Genuinely: Why?

It doesn't take a trial to work out that someone capable of that atrocity is insane.

Motive. What specifically drove this guy to do what he did? What did he experience in life, what were the chain of events that led to this?

Aren't you interested? I'm sure the families affected would like to know.

Insanity is enough motive for me.

If he says "I hate immigration and love playing violent video games", that doesn't come close to explaining why he did what he did. Loads of people hate immigration and love playing violent video games, and don't kill people.

He could say "I like ice skating and playing draughts", and it would be just as relevant.

It's surely only a matter of time until Naebody is appointed head of the IMF, stating that he developed his diplomacy skills on The George Fox Roar.
Damn straight. I'd tear the IMF a new arsehole big enough to double-park a Subaru.

We've been through this a thousand times. Pick a random link. Choose any c*nt and find how they sought how to rationalise what he (or, very occasionally, she) did. There's never a cogent reason or an explanation. Let's not go through it again.

He's obviously an odious character for the atrocities he's committed, so a bell-end yes. But the courts will be deciding what to do with him, and sanity counts. To me, it seems like he is seriously mentally ill rather than a sane, calculated killer. His spiel seems completely manic, often contradictory, and he's demanding to be sent to the chair.
Plus anyone who ever quotes Enoch Powell is an imbecile.

Why do you care what he thinks when you've already decided he's insane?

I'm not sure who is worse - that nutter who killed those kids on that island in Norway or you for listening to what he's got to say for himself.

Yes, you heard.

Ha-HA! Glorious stuff, Wassa.

I've not heard a word of Fuckwit Joe's testimony and I intend on keeping it that way. Likewise, I've never knowingly heard a record by Justin Bieber or One Direction. I'm largely unexposed to whatever a Kardashian is and I've never seen one of those augmented reality shows on ITV. The gift (and, to a certain extent, curse) of new media is the ability to whittle your exposure to whatever doesn't appeal down to an irrelevance.

I'm your best pal on here, Skel. How dare you talk to me like that. I'm as tiresome now as I've always been.

I take your stick-up-the-arse comment as a reluctant acknowledgment of my point.

Lovers have tiffs too you know, sometimes it just takes reminding of the good points and its all rosy again :smack:

How could I have decided if he was insane without listening to what he thinks? Turn out the big light when you're finished, dear.

By his actions, perhaps...

But perfectly sane people can commit atrocities too, it's only by listening to him that you can judge his state of mind. Unlike some on here I don't find listening to what he has to say as some mentally draining exercise with no outcome, and it's not like I'm writing a blog on it or demanding a certain action against him.

I'm just talking about the topic; is Breivik sane or is he insane? I think insane and have no other way to judge that than by reading about his comments in court, in the Metro each day during a 20min train journey.
