The man who killed 77 people in bomb and gun attacks in Norway last July has boasted of his actions in a statement at his trial in Oslo. "I have carried out the most spectacular and sophisticated attack on Europe since World War II," Anders Behring Breivik told the court. Breivik said he would do it all again and asked to be acquitted. Although he admits the bombing and attack on a youth camp, he has pleaded not guilty to terror and mass murder. "These acts are based on goodness, not evil," he said, adding that he had toned down his rhetoric out of concern for the victims. Can This guy really be considered sane? Can anyone who carries out the actions he has ever be anything other than a mental case? |

While I am glad that most of his opportunity to preach is being limited and I'm ignoring most of the coverage, it's always said that the best way to beat the likes of the BNP and others is to show them up for what they are and defeat them in argument, so now's the time. |

The fact that the nutter who shot those kids on that island in Norway had to shoot those kids on that island in Norway to make his point rather suggests that reasoned argument was not his forte. It's more the debate around the concern that he's using the trial as a showcase for his beliefs, and that publicity is what he seeks more than anything, propaganda. If he is, beat him. And how many is 'some'...? |

Oh come on. Fuckwit Joe here doesn't have an ideology to deconstruct. The comparison with the BNP is bogus. He's not a man with extreme political opinions, he's mentally ill. Rather unwillingly, I read his manifesto last year. His ramblings are those of an isolated simpleton who has stewed a couple of (very basic) paranoid fantasies for much too long. You can't debunk the logic of his arguments because there's no logic and there are no consistent arguments. There's just bunk. Page after page of grandiose, incoherent bunk. It's a bit like RangersMedia, basically. And no-one benefits from giving RangersMedia an audience. |

The guy wanted fame, and he's getting it. There's no reason for publicising the trial, or what he's saying, aside from morbid newsshite. Do it behind closed doors, then let him die in an asylum. And wherever possible try to scrub his name from the public's memory. |

Breivik seems to be severely mentally deranged. He's now claiming he spent his time learning how to use a sniper scope on Gears of War, and studied warfare in World of Warcraft, for 16 hours a day each. I'm pretty sure he'll be declared insane. The way he stopped the White Power salute at the request of the officials because it was 'upsetting the grieving families' says to me he's seriously confused. |
