Well, 2016 actually ...

I see there are more folk being accepted into this at a ceremony on Friday night, according to the club's twitter account.

Among them ...

Jerry Kerr. Could have been in there a long time ago.

Richard Gough. Hold one's nose. Will he turn up - presumably so? Will he get booed?

Sean Dillon. OK, he's been with us a while.

What is this ?? No arguing that jerry Kerr should be in there but ffs, Richard Gough? Do me a favour he is not a good candidate..he ran off 6 years later after telling McLean to give him 50k or he was off. What's legendary as out that?

Hold noses, any credibility this hall of fame had has gone.

Ach. What's fame anyway? All it means is that you're well known. There's no requirement of greatness. Honestly. Look it up.

I'd see the hall of fame a bit like the London blue plaques. To qualify, it's enough to be notable rather than great. McLaren and Gough are both notable in United's history. I'd also argue for Big Dunc, Ray McKinnon, Mark Kerr, Basille Boli and Walter Rojas. All were notable, in their own ways.

The other rule with London blue plaques is that you need to be dead first. That's a sensible rule.
