After a wander through EastFootball, I'm not surprised the team aren't doing well, when, as supporters, we are just a bunch of c*nts.

Several of the cup winning team are still here, with contracts up at the end of the season. "Yippee" cry the EF posters, "get them tae f*ck now, why wait". f*ckin brilliant guys, great support. A couple of rough results for a smart manager that likes to play nice football and we call for his head.

If I was a United player, I'd be happy to leave, with all us moany bastards yelling on to the pitch every week...

I agree that it could be an outcome of the discussions that Housty may have to drop the Scotland role. I've never believed that it was a distraction, but with the club doing well, I owuldn't be surprised (actuallly, with ST i might be) to hear the Chairman calling for full concentration and all hands to the pump.

Are you surprised? I stopped going to EFF completely: there were (and by the sounds of it still are) too many immature attention seeking posters. Some nice guys in there, but they get drowned out by the flow of twattery. Too much racism and homophobia for my liking too.

Anyway, hopefully this win takes the pressure off of the boss and the team too. More pressure tends to lead to desperate football, which never helps. Just as well we got off to a brilliant start today as that can make all the difference.

All clubs have their c*nt fans, with a similar proportion. Our demographic isn't anything special.

Even before the result was secured, there seemed to be a reasonably vocal amount of support for the manager at the game. It's always hard to balance the loud minority to overall opinion, on internet or at games, but it seemed not to be so consistent across everyone.

The result, and the interview recently, might get enough back on his side.

Players seemed to be happen enough too.

His interview with Spence was much more measured than the one with STV-he only slipped marginally from the script of focus on the Dunfermline game. His players seem genuinely buoyed by the win today.

Vote of confidence.

Quote:

The Chairman and Board of Directors of Dundee United Football Club would like to confirm its unanimous and unequivocal support of Peter Houston as Manager. After the recent media attention regarding the Manager‘s position at the Club, it was felt a statement needed to be issued to put an end to the rumour and speculation. The team is going through a transition this season and as such performances will be inconsistent but everyone is united in the aim of moving the Club forward and our wish is to now focus on doing so and we would hope this confirmation will end all media speculation on this subject.

Good to see. A bit impersonal, but hopefully will give a bit of breathing space.

Levein on scotsport just there talking of someone at the club briefing the press about things, good defence of houston.

I think it's quite clear where the story came from. Thompson snr was exactly the same and it was equally distasteful when he did it.

Plenty of "wriggle room" for ST in the club statement. You're not united in the aim of moving the club FORWARD if you end up being in danger of relegation. Still a lot of focussed work to be done.

Oh, don't be a horse's arse.

If you're going to waste time on textual analysis, try noting the incorrect tense in the first sentence, the passive construction of the second and the three follow-on clauses in the third. The writer doesn't know how to write explicitly, making it a nonsense to assume the subtlety of subtext.

You're being obtuse and boorish. Not to mention varying degrees of incandescency in many of your viewpoints.
