Strange similarities between now and 1996 when Kirkwood was sacked.
Doing shite in the League then and now.
Losing then to a 1st Division side (Dundee) after a 2-2aet at Tannadice and going out on penalties. Penalties taken then at the Eddie Thompson stand (just like the other night).

If my memory is correct, Shitwood was sacked after a 1-0 defeat to Hearts at Tynecastle (dodgy penalty decision and penalty scored by John Robertson).

If Houston is fired, what are our views about John Robertson taking over? For me, it wouldn't be a bad appointment.

Yes. Yesterday. Add your own snide comment about Elvis being dead, etc.

What's John Robertson done over the past six years? Knocked Aberdeen out of the cup in humiliating fashion, I guess. But we've all done that.

If we need to sign an ex-Hearts player and/or manager, John Robertson is a good shout. Isn't there something about him not wanting to leave Inverness that prevents him taking a full time job elsewhere?

The quotes from Houston makes it clear that he doesn't think he's getting the backing he deserves at all. As Naebs said that struggle usually only goes one way.

If results/Houston's relationship with ST doesn't improve and we do get a new Manager it wouldn't be a massive surprise to see someone from the League of Ireland come in considering the strong core of Irish players we have. Was reading that Daly, Flood and Dillon are all taking their coaching badges as well so they will no doubt have a strong influence on the training ground.

Talks after the game tomorrow it seems. bbc

It's going to need a decisive decision from Thomspon one way or another.

Houston's on Sportsound tonight, apparently. Sportsound presented by Jim Spence.

That can't end well.

My bet? An ultimatum to Houston: either bugger off and be Scotland assistant or give that up and concentrate on the main job. (The alleged Cathro incident may have hastened this).

This would show fans they (both parties) mean action if Houston does stay and possibly even allow Thompson to get out of this without compensation needed if he punts the manager.

And here's Spence, talking of a rift between Houston and Mr Ed. Shortly before going on air with Houston. I wonder who his source is?

Replacing Houston would be expensive, £170,000 to be precise.

If Thomson sacks him he should pay the compensation.

i'm sure the final bill would be miles less than £170,000, particularly if Levein wants to keep Houston as an assistant. That may be the only reason why it could be a current benefit to both clubs.

I agree with Naebs that he's probably toast though with an inevitable 3-0 capitulation v. the Pars as the final ingredient.

What leads you to that conclusion? Surely not the Scotland gig. That was discussed and agreed before the contract was signed.

After a wander through EastFootball, I'm not surprised the team aren't doing well, when, as supporters, we are just a bunch of c*nts.

Several of the cup winning team are still here, with contracts up at the end of the season. "Yippee" cry the EF posters, "get them tae f*ck now, why wait". f*ckin brilliant guys, great support. A couple of rough results for a smart manager that likes to play nice football and we call for his head.

If I was a United player, I'd be happy to leave, with all us moany bastards yelling on to the pitch every week...

I agree that it could be an outcome of the discussions that Housty may have to drop the Scotland role. I've never believed that it was a distraction, but with the club doing well, I owuldn't be surprised (actuallly, with ST i might be) to hear the Chairman calling for full concentration and all hands to the pump.
