Scott Davie - 'And the crisis continues for Dundee United!'.

What. A. Cock.
Either he's been listening to too many of the arseholes who sit near me in the George Fox, or else they have been listening to him!

No, not a great result, and in amongst a few other poor results but it's pricks like him who encourage the 'Houstie Out!' wankers.

Houstie Out! Houstie Out! Houstie Out!

oh, sorry...

:haha:

So The Dean was closest with at least a penalty prediction in the Bairns favour?

Houston signed Flood
True, though I don't remember anyone complaining at the time. I have absolutely no memory of anyone on this board suggesting that fraction of the wage could've been better used on -- for example -- a bignosed Spanish Doris with a strong affinity for United who could play up front. Hindsight, eh? What a c*nt is hindsight.
Yes, hindsight is a c*nt. And no mistake,

But, after a summer in which our midfield was decimated, we were offered the choice of aforementioned Spaniard, with an affinity for United and an appearance record akin to Sean Connery on Scottish soil, or Willo, also with a strong affinity for United and who'd been an excellent player for us previously (penalty-taking notwithstanding).

I don't think anyone could, in all good conscience, have chosen the latter over the former for United at that juncture

In fact, I seem to recall you getting rather gushy over his arrival.

edit - Apologies if that seems a provocative, Naebody. It's not meant to be.
I hate going out on penalties. HATE IT!

I recall different, though like everyone else I thought it was a useful signing. Still, I shouldn't turn this into yet another argument about Craig Easton II. I've little idea whether he's played well, badly or somewhere between the two this season.

Ach, it's only the league cup.

Flood seems to be like most of our midfield in that he's fine, but not really doing much. Robertson seemed to get forward a lot more and that let him create more impact, but as has been covered before, the midfield setup doesn't seem to bring out the best in any of our players.

Was 4 today, with a left back at left midfield, and the midfield was nicely organised, they didn't really play through us, but Flood and Douglas didn't really offer anything in an attacking sense, which seems a waste.

Armstrong drives forward very well and finds space better than the starting four, but not sure his defensive play is at level where he's going to get a game, which seems a waste.

Without Swanson, we need something in there with a bit of spark, and Flood doesn't seem to have it right now.

That Sandaza never really played for us shtick doesn't wash I'm afraid. Sure, he was more or less out for his second season here having played most of the first one, clocking up about 40 appearances for us: but he was said to be fit for the last few months before he left so something beyond his fitness went wrong.

I didn't think we should have got rid of him in the first place and I said so, but in the rush to drive down our wage bill he was a major casualty. So much so that we offset a large chunk of what we would have been paying him to pay him off. Clever stuff, that. I could see the wisdom of letting his deal run down if he genuinely wasn't going to be fit again, but truly couldn't understand why we felt the need to pay him a five figure sum not to play for us. It's that sort of gubbins that makes me despair of the club, much more so than losing a close game to one of the teams at the top of the 1st division (who have, lest we forget, already put Rangers out of this competition).

Me? I'd have kept anyone who strengthened the club - both Fran and Willo - and not thrown money away and penny pinched thereby making it far more likely that we were less able to compete and therefore lose more prize money (i.e. now missing out on a semi final berth). But those mistakes were chiefly made a good while back (one shudders to think how much United paid people to bugger off before their time in the last decade) and the club is paying for them now. But then what do I know? I haven't got the full details that those running the club have and have to trust they know what they're doing.

That was the worst possible result for us last night. 2 minutes from a semi then Falkirk equalise then penaltys and now we're out because of Flood again.

I had to watch the penalty shootout on my phone via your banana smiley penalty tracker.

I'm ashamed to say I actually enjoyed it as a result.

Shame on you.

Yep, the banana penalty tracker was genius Findus, it definitely helped soften the blow of the result a little...

Likewise. Kudos.

(In a rare and remarkable piece of idiocy, Arabtrust chose to tweet only the United penalties without mentioning the Falkirk ones.)

Aye, I was following the penalties on Twitter and I struggled a bit. It seemed to go like this:

United score. Falkirk score. United score. Falkirk win.

On the BBC Sport site, every kick was marked with 'PENALTY MISSED'. Needless to say, I wouldn't have been surprised if it was the case.

The banana tracker was a top piece of work.
