Not if it wasn't reckless/dangerous, or intended. Comings together are allowed, even if one player comes off worse than the other, as long as there's no recklessness or intention. According to the laws, at least (I think). That's why Clattenburg didn't give a penalty when Anderson brought down Richards during the Manchester Reds and Manchester Blues - apparently he saw it as just an accidental collision and didn't attribute blame to either player (even if he was wrong).

And thanks to the aforementioned Clattenburg we now know that the official refereeing hand gesture for an accidental coming together is a bizarre hand-mime of someone playing with an invisible Rubik's cube.

This game was in the troika of entertainment events over my weekend. I saw better techinique and application by the cast of "Whisky Galore- the musical" in Pitlochry and a better dive than Sandaza's when a cast member faceplanked whilst getting onto the stage. There was stunning similarity in performance to Tannadice by the stellar cast of "Contagion" where a whole load of mediocre individual performances failed to gel together at all.

As to the game itself, when Watson is the most effective crosser of the ball in the game and the closest thing is Kenzo's piledriver, then you know all is not well in midfield and both Flood and Douglas were deservedly subbed (but far too late) for ineffectiveness out wide. In the middle Rankin was our only pass marks player with Robertson infuriatingly poor in his distribution and control of the ball.

In defence we were no more than Ok against a punchless St.Johnstone who may have missed Sheridan and Pernis remains wasteful and predictable with his distribution. Up front Daly looked disinterested or pre-occupied with captaincy duties or a combination of both. LDV was ok but should really have converted his free header by going back across Enkelmann which was really basic stuff.

And onto Allan- he takes 10 minutes to get stripped and ready to go on whilst Russell takes about 10 seconds with double the cloots to lose. Once he got on he was more incisive in his short cameo than anyone else in the game.

So onto Houston-well he may moan about the average youth of his side but he should really be getting more out of the experienced performers and he won't do that by swanning around in the international arena.Surely ST will be hooking him in full time to get the experienced performers sorted out and build up the shaky confidence of the youngsters who we are increasingly dependent on to avoid the drop. We#ve got a tricky league game v. the Pars now and no home match until the 19th November. I'm less concerned at a League cup exit than I am being bottom of the SPL by the middle of next month.

What kind of horse-shit is this? I've been seeing this in a bunch of places, but I can't see the merit in it at all.

Somebody explain to me why having our manager help out in the international setup is such a detriment to the club.

Homer - you can ask ST when he hooks him in but my view is that when you tune out of a week of game prep for international duties you're not 100% focussed on the job in hand-which is keeping us in the SPL. And if he's not so focussed why would the players be so inclined?

A series of excellent points. I will certainly ask ST about that next time we're chatting.

All our tweets are for romantic purposes only, we never use that medium to discuss business. Or dickish conspiracies.
