Two things. Firstly, the new Scotland top:

Love it, absolutely love it.

Secondly, something to get the blood, erm, pumping through the veins :banshk:

COME ON LITHUANIA!!!!!!!!!!!
Scotland, established in 1873. I like it, but would prefer if it didn't have the blue armbands and just continued the stripes, or if the armbands were smaller and had the decal on it.

Goodroy you fcuking balloon! Still hasn't learned to lift his head :smack:
Yep. Goodie summed up.
Too cocky to simply blast a penalty against the World Champions.
Too cocky to simply square a ball for a tap-in.
Glad he scored though.

Onwards then, ever onwards.
Scotland - football's answer to The Road. :-/

On a brighter note, I think we're actually starting to look not that bad a side. Plenty of good options in midfield, a few decent if not world-beating strikers, good keepers (McGregor fcukups aside), and the players seem to be gelling well (Naismith and Mackail-Smithers looked good 'together' last night). Run that campaign again and I reckon we'd comfortably secure 2nd more often than not.

Hoping this is the start of a 5-6 years of so of stability with a strong core of well-gelled, skilled and enthusiastic players, Ron! :banjmp:

Thought we looked OK considering the opposition. Well, until I turned off in despair after the third.

Maybe my mind is clouded by an anti-OF bias, but every time I see Naismith in a Scotland shirt I think he looks completely shit.

Nah, not bias as Naismith was completely shit last night and for me one of two weak links in the entire side*. The handful of other Gers and ex-Gers are usually ok (McGregor is as good as Scotland could possibly expect in his position).

The team didn't play too bad, considering, but it still could have been about 7 or 8 to Spain by the close.

And it's worth remembering we didn't lose the campaign over the Spain games but an unlucky draw v Czechs at Hampden and a woefully unambitious away attitude (we could and should have won away twice more in the group.) Hopefully Levein is learning...but I would like to see him occasionally adopt 4-4-2 without being two goals down first. International teams just are not set up to cope with it these days. Still, a decent campaign overall in that at least our co-efficient is rising and many young players are gaining experience.

*Berra being the other. Problem is we have no one else any good for his position. Not so Naismith, who could have any one of about five more productive players in his place.

Apart from Gordon who is much better, if much more injury prone.

We need a really great centre half and a really great centre forward. Apart from that we're no too bad.

Naismith's not played his best in the last few games (even then he could still have scored 3 or 4 goals with better finishing), but I reckon he does have two qualities that Managers will always love.

He makes great late runs into the box and gets on the end of a lot of crosses and for a forward he's got a very good attitude when it comes to the defensive side of the game.

I'd compare his worth to the team with someone like Bannan, who (as much as I like him) completely switched off and got out-paced by someone he had a 10 yard headstart on for the 1st goal.

I know he gets a lot of stick on here but I think the player we really missed last night was Scott Brown.

I think the two of them come as a pair in international games, they link up better than any other players in the Scotland squad. So I suppose if one's shit the other is shit. Two great players on their day though, and if only we could add 1 or 2 more people into this wee gang we'd have the starting point for a team.

I was meaning Bannan and Naismith, sorry for the confusion - I was horrified at the implication that I'd just lauded Scott Brown.

I'll let you off with it this time. I'm in a good mood.
