Has made the Scotland squad. And with that goes any chance of an extended contract...

Good news for him. Seems as fit as he's ever going to be and playing well, think was inevitable.

Did our contract extention reminders fail to go off last year?

Excellent news for him. Well deserved.

If the summer/January exodus pans out as a worst case scenario, it really will be a managerial fuck up of quite monumental proportions.

Are we waiting to see if we get to the cup semi before we can budget properly for extensions, perhaps?

I wonder, post-Bosman, what is the average number of caps United players gain before they leave us? 2?

I think that's the maximum rather than the average. Robertson has two, Kenneth has two. Goodie f*cked off after one. Robson got one I think. Did Conway get one or two?

Sigh.

United lineup for next year's season opener just in:

McJipperson

Dillon - McNapperson - Gunning - McFefferson

McRipperton - Flood - Rankin - McKipperson

Daly - McWashingLine

Well done Danny, btw. Try not to get injured before the game B)

Excellent news, well deserved on his recent form as well. Not sure he'd be the best option in the Away game against Spain but he might get a look in against the Lichties.

Of course on the Tartan Army Messageboard there's talk that his call up is purely down to Levein's Utd connections... :smack:

Good. Swanson has always seemed a sound sort, based on evidence such as this and this.

Sound?

Berwick played Hamilton in the cup which we got beat 3-2, the next day I got a phone call from the manager saying Hamilton had put a bid in for me which Berwick accepted.

As it was on the last day of the transfer window I went to meet Billy Reid and was very happy with what he was saying. I shook his hand and done my medical and agreed to sign the next day.

I got so many phone calls that night from well respected people in the game telling me to hold out for an SPL team. I then just panicked and basically went back on my word with Billy and didn't sign.

I haven't spoken to Billy since as I was too embarrassed and felt really bad about the whole situation.

Ah, wait a minute. Watched the second link you so kindly supplied. You were being sarcastic, weren't you?

Apologies - Chippy has burst my sarcasm-o-meter today.

And if Swanny had said that, fair enough. But he didn't.

Yes. I'm saying "sound". He got cold feet. He admits he got cold feet, and he's guilty about letting people down. Rather than considering this as a sign of weak moral fibre, I find all it rather winning.

Seriously, are you from the Old Testament?

Are you from a dystopian corporate future where everyone's worth is measured in Googlecreds and projections of economic viability?

Nothing strikes you as shitty about that? So long as he tells someone in an interview that he feels embarrassed and bad about it that makes it OK - in fact, it makes him "sound"?

Going back on his word isn't great, but if he had the balls to be open and contrite for it, then that does count for something. Not many people own up to behaving like a dick.
