Kenneth, pack yer bags and get oot ma f*ckin hoose.
Big Gary played his best when he had either Webster of Dods alongside him. He should now be passed the stage where he needs someone talking him through the game.

Bad day at the office yesterday but he wasn't the only one.

A great new brand of horseshit from United for 2012, folks. Swanson off for 2 million after netting a Scotland hat-trick, Daly injured, Pernis has a breakdown and goes home next summer....

Or, whatever :lager: :ban:

Steady chaps. Yesterday was awful but no worse than most of our performances against Motherwell in recent seasons and actually better than many. We might, depressingly, struggle to make the top six in an awful league but we won't be in any danger of being relegated.
That's exactly what you said in 1995 (except there was no top six).

1. Bollocks.

2. The same accusation could be made against the familiar prophets of doom who have foretold relegation every season since then.

Cuts both ways, innit.

It's the first time I've felt the chill of trips to Greenock and Stirling through my bones since 2003. With half the team leaving, half the team still at school, bad boy Allan being a disruptive influence and Dusan Pernis morphing into Lurch, I think we're in trouble.

Ok. Let's have a look at the table.

Motherwell are too high up, but are probably okay for top six. Hearts are where they should be. That leaves two berths, currently occupied by St Johnstone and St Mirren.

I'd argue (on little evidence, admittedly) that both Saints are more likely to fall than rise. The Buddies don't have a goalscorer and were beaten on Saturday by bottom-of-the-table Inverness. The Fehrmers have two excellent strikers, one of which may disappear in January. We can also write off Sandaza, of course, because he's not really that great and an injury waiting to happen. That's why you all shouted at me when I suggested he would've been a better signing than Flood, remember?

That means six teams competing for two potential berths. Our results against those six teams are notable (St Mirren draw; Johnnies draw; Killie draw; Hibs draw; Aberdeen ...). This isn't relegation form, it's just being as pish as everyone else.

Meanwhile, there are a few reasons for optimism. Daly's still scoring, Rankin's doing okay and Swanson's useful. Also, there's cover for the players currently toiling, if Houston has the bollocks to drop anyone. He could go Banks for Pernis; Dillon for Kenneth; GMS or Douglas for Flood; Armstrong (or, in a sane world, Allan) for Robertson. We have a weakened team from last year, undeniably, but in terms of depth it's no worse than the direct competition.

The teams directly above us have Rangers and Celtic on Saturday, meaning a victory against Aberdeen could quite easily put in a much more palatable 5th place after the first round of fixtures. I think 5th is about the average prediction over in the League thread.

Alternatively: Daly and Gunning could brain each other at a corner and that'd be us playing derbies again next season. Yay, derbies!

Lurch may have been slow but he never sclaffed a pass to Michael Higdon, and even he would have fallen onto that joke of a shot that rang up the second goal.

Nice idea. Pity Dundee FC look as likely to get relegated as we do. I am not choosing to take the optimistic approach.

I can't see us being in danger of going down. We're clearly struggling for a bit of consistency and are losing goals, but we're also scoring, and that's usually a decent place to be. There's a lot of teams worse of than us, and we've enough of a squad taht should get better the more they play. It is a fairly new team still.

Yep. Three of em, every game. Any team that ships three goals a game is in the shit.

If we keep that up in our next 3 against aberdeen, st johnstone and dumfermline, then I'll worry. Or more probalbly, if we keep that up when Dillon returns, then I'll worry. Or if Houston doesn't play him...

Just saw the highlights - first the team fell asleep, noone taking responsibility for tracking the Motherwell runner; 2nd is pure dead ROFL; 3rd is just individual f*ckupery.

On the upside, this has pretty much confirmed that Kenneth should be 3rd choice centre-back (for now at least), though I get the feeling that Dillon will come back in at right-back. Not even the Daly/Dixon Dillon/Dixon Dillon/Daly combinations last year conceded goals at such a rate.

And bar a massive spike in injuries, there is no way we are going down, zero chance.

This is more depressing than watching My Name Is Earl at 3.30am on a weeknight. Or just at any time, of any given day of the week
