Good to finally get our first home win. It's a pity i wasn't there today . Good to have Daly back looking forward to seeing his goal tomorrow. I wonder if he'll start next week. It would depend if he was fully fit. Another 90 minutes from Swanson. He seems to be getting back to his best. A pity we couldn't keep a clean sheet but mustn't grumble it's a win. :banjmp: :banjmp: :banjmp: Bring on Hiibs next week i'll be there for that game.

A fairly uncontroversial game today. We were very dangerous going forward, thankfully, because we looked shaky at both full back positions. Best performers for me were Rankin, Flood and Swanson. Dow did well and looks like he'll develop into an important player; Dalla Valle took his goal exceptionally well and worked hard but is very raw. Pleased with the centre half pairing. Robertson, Dixon and Watson were shaky. Marsh Brown was absolutely mince BUT he's a young guy with little or no experience of first team football. I wouldn't write him off as a player but I do wonder why we would bother taking a guy on loan who isn't anywhere near ready. Maybe we can sub-let him to Forfar for a couple of months.

Referee was excellent. I'm always ready to criticise referees so it's only fair to acknowledge a good performance. Played advantage very well and kept his cards in his pocket for all but the worst offences (the booking for Dalla Valle aside perhaps).

Special mention to the guy sitting a few seats along in the row behind me, who needless to say hates Big JD (well, it is the George Fox Lower). Big Jon clearly getting stripped to come on, 'oh ffs, why are we bringing him on' utters said dickhead. Seconds after coming on - 3-1, thankyou very much! Of course, dickhead says very little at this point - no doubt he's one of the regulars on East Football.

Anyway, yeah, not spectacular, but good to get a victory and to convert some of our chances. Great finish from LDV, sublime one from Swanny and a powerful header from JD. The other thing which was pleasing was the excellent passes which led to the goals.

For those who are already getting on at Knees Up Mother Brown - give the guy a friggin chance - he's only about 12! And he comes recommended by Billy Badger so let's wait and see eh? After all, some were rather negative about LDV to start with and he had a really good game today.

For those not at the game, I hope Sportscene show the powerdrive from Gunning - what a thumper doesn't even begin to describe it!

Sure he'll get a chance, but he was a bit poor today, and others should be ahead of him in the queue.

We'd do well to get a point from this game, meaning we'll probably win.
3-1 in all likelihood. Swanson, LDV and Kenneth. Tade consolation for them.
:ban: :banjmp: :ban: Hope you had a wee bet on that.

Daly actually didn't do that much other than head in the third - with the help of a lucky deflected cross. So lets credit Houston with the inspired subbing.

Despite the win we still looked brittle at the back (apart from Gunning) and central midfield still isn't right. Robertson's form is still poor and he got muscled off the ball too often for someone who's supposed to be protecting the back four.
Flood did a lot of running, but most of it looked like wasted energy. Rankin was much more effective but ran around less. In fact for a team playing 5 in midfield we didn't get a lot of controlled possession there and on many occasions the ball was funnelled back to Kenneth to pick the "killer" pass forward- weird!

Good to see LDV get his goal-nice to see a striker willing to put the laces through it. Swanson's goal sublime.

Dillon can't come back at RB soon enough, Watson's dithering in the first half could have cost us at least two points.

I wonder when they are going to let Scott Allan out of that hut in the middle of some unmarked Highland forest where I presume thay have him trussed up in bed for several months until he signs a long term contract and other clubs forget he's with us? :conf:

I would also like to imagine that is what has happened to him.

I'm not sure Robertson is meant to be protecting the back 4. It seems to be very fluid, Rankin and Flood do as much as Robertson in protecting it seems. And I'm reaonably happy with that, as I like Robertson geting forward. He's more of a goal threat (or was) than Rankin or Flood.

Might not be controlled possession, but with Swanson in the team, it's a lot more possession that we get with long diagonals all day.

Me too.
Although Sean may be back at left-back if Dixon runs away from any more balls played across the six-yard box...

I see Levein mentioned on Sportscene that he'd like to get Danny Swanson involved in the Scotland set-up, describing him as 'the most talented player I've ever worked with'.
Which is nice.

Can't we just let everyone have a new incarnation if they see fit?

I myself am reveling in leaving the old me behind. I'm sure you've all enjoyed the difference too.
