Unless Levein goes with Naismith up front, looks like Goodroy will be in line for start: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/952859/scotland-lose-craig-mackail-smith-and-charlie-adam-for-lithuania?cc=4716 I envisage a tight game ending in a Scotland win. |

Does it mean fuck all? As I understand it we still finish second if we beat Lithuania and Leichstenstein and the Czechs lose in Lithuania (assuming we both lose to Spain). Obviously it's no longer in our hands but it's not an impossible combination of results. |

Yep, fair enough. Czechs could also draw in Lithuania - if the sides finish on equal points, would the head-to-head decide, or would it be goal difference? Lithuania are out of it now, so their last home game, against the Czechs, will be a dead rubber for them. |

If Lithuania beat Scotland Czech Republic they'll finish second unless Czechs beat Spain. Having said that, it will be a dead rubber for Lithuania if they don't beat Scotland. And if they beat Scotland we're comprehensively out, no recourse to what-ifs. Having said that, I'm more inclined to believe Lithuania will beat Czechs than Scotland will win in Spain. |

the way i see it is that if we take 6 points from our next two games then we'll go into the last fixture in 2nd place. that is assuming that spain beat the czechs. fixtures for the last set of games have us away to spain and czechs away to lithuania. obviously ours is the much tougher fixture, but go into that game ahead and we've got a chance. the czechs also lost at home to lithuania i see us putting 3 past this team tomorrow. was not at all impressed by them when we played them and they struggled to a home draw against lichtenstein. add to that its david goodwillie up front. he will be valued at no less than 6million by wednesday |

So did we And they beat the Czechs in Prague. It wouldn't surprise me if we do beat Lithuania, then fail to beat Liechtenstein away. |

So what are the chances of Levein getting sacked? Ideally, I'd like him sacked long before McCoist gets sacked from Rangers, so there's no chance of him going to Ibrox. Ideally, I'd like him sacked by Tuesday morning and re-employed by United as Director of Football on Tuesday afternoon. Is this implausible? I've no interest in international football so it's hard for me to judge plausibilities. Latvia 7 Scotland 2. |

nah we beat them with a 97th minute winner. get it right. and that was with kris boyd starting and everything! I thought they (lithuania) were a really poor team when we played them, and if we played with any sort of positivity, we would have won that game. levein was happy to take a draw and that may cost us. playing them at home when both teams need the win, im very confident of a result. part of me does fear the scenario you've posted though, but i believe! Along the lines I'd go, but no Morrisson? :O He's been a consistently good a performer for us over the last 2 or 3 years. I'd have him in ahead of any of that midfield bar Fletcher. Erm... ok, Morrison in for Robson. |

not far away. no snodgrass or robson, morrison and bannan both start. im happy with that. morrison has been an impressive player for scotland lately and im a huge fan of barry bannan. looking forward to see him and goodie both make their first competitive starts, and i think they'll both shine.
