A bit over the top. I must be the only person that is not on facebook. Not as bad as the guy that got 6 months in jail for stealing a bottle of water. Shop was probably full of booze yet he steals water. It's a crazy world. I suppose this please will please the daily mail readers. We can't have people high on water.

Surely will be reduced, but the fact that the range of sentencing allows that long for that offence is a little worrying.

I bet the guy who put up a page inciting riots in Dundee is crapping himself now.

Here's what I hope is happening.

That moonfaced shitsucking PR f*ckwad of an empty suit in No. 10 is lurching so far to the reactionary right it's a problem. The legal establishment don't want to deal with conscription, curfews, benefit cropping, state evictions or the rest of the arsebrained freeform policymaking ministers will use to channel Daily Mail vitriol on any given morning.

So, judges are trying to prod the liberalism out of us. Of course four years for writing a few words on a website is absurd. Likewise prison time for mothers on first offences of opportunist low-ticket theft, or handling stolen goods. These wildly unjust sentences, I'd like to think, are intended to send a message to the (usually quite moderate) public along the lines of: "do you want to live in a police state? Well this is what it's like."

Alternately, judges are ignorant and reactionary old f*cktards who are abusing their responsibility out of class-riven fear. That'd be annoying.

Alternatively alternatively, judges are just like the rest of us in that they're a bunch of quite dissimilar individuals who happen to share the same job title.

Some will be ignorant and reactionary forktards, some will be measured and fair and some will be any-way-the-wind blows climbing twarts.

It doesn't make for a feet-on-the-streets campaign, but I'm afraid it's true.

Or 5 months for recieving stolen shorts. Which has been cut by other judge to 75 hours community service or something. It's about as chaotic as the riots.

Eight months for posting pish on SpaceFace?

Should people be jailed for saying stupid things, or is this more serious?

As far as can tell, he didn't do any of the incite stuff, so that's a worry if it's not allowed to express dislike for some people or religon, however stupid it may be. It's such a mess, it's just trying to clamp down on rangers / celtic stuff, but is going to end up causing a lot of hassle.

He also posted abuse directed at the Pope.

Not all bad then.

Bloke has a quiet pint in a pub then leaves to go home. Out in the street he is assaulted knocked to the ground and kicked in the head in a totally random attack. His assailant gets arrested and after being found guilty gets 30 days in Perth prison. Meanwhile his victim is still suffering the aftereffects of the assault and is wary of going out alone. Bampot posts idiotic rubbish in the internet and gets 240 days in jail. Doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.
