In fact, it would be great to have somebody as opinionated and articulate as yourself there.

You might miss the St Johnstone game though...
Why on Earth would ArabTRUST - The Dundee United Supporters Society - miss the St.Johnstone game??!! We all want to go to it, our members want to go to it, we'll be finished in plenty time to go to the game!
I think he's implying that Naebody is an incorrugable windbag.

It's absurd to claim that you are barred from the AGM, you're more than welcome to come along and be a part of it. In fact, it would be great to have somebody as opinionated and articulate as yourself there.

Yes, it's £15 for the privilege but I've never met one Arab who genuinely begrudges such a payment. Perhaps you're the first but I'd hope not.
No ta. I wouldn't grudge the £15 but I don't like the concept of fan trusts generally, so it'd be hypocritical to join.

Returning to my main question, perhaps I should be clearer:

Is Arabtrust run like a public company, where its remit is to operate in the interests of its members?
Or is Arabtrust run like a political party, where its remit is to operate for the greater good?

If it's the former, it's fair enough to restrict your AGM to members only. If it's the latter, it isn't. Simple as that really.

(One of the drawbacks of power, whether it's nominal or actual, is that you get twats like me asking awkward questions. Irritating, isn't it?)

Would you prefer ArabTRUST didn't exist, Naebs? And if so, what would replace it to satisfy your ideal level of fan representation?

That's the remit of a political party?

I thought a political party's remit was to appeal to voters so that it could take power and implement its policies.

My ideal level of fan representation is through the turnstile. Football clubs are not charities, they're businesses. We're not benefactors, we're customers.

And yes, Mr Skeletor, I'd rather if ArabTrust didn't exist. My opinion is that such organisations add nothing to the efficient running of a commercial business. My opinion is that such organisations, no matter how well intentioned the people involved, can only do negligible good yet have the potential to cause irreparable damage.

You seem to be confusing remit with realpolitik, Master Wassa, perhaps for comic effect.

I'd suggest that if fans started behaving like and counting themselves purely as customers, passion for football would not exist.

We're customers in restaurants but still have passion for food.

I personally rarely pay in to a restaurant to vehemently vocally support my spaghetti carbonara, don't passionately follow the ins and outs of the restaurant menu, and don't take satisfaction from being part of the customer base that essentially funds it all.

You clearly have no passion for food, then. No wonder you're a skinny f*cker.

Based on this thread, my recommendations are:

Skeletor to run the club, Naebody to run the catering. Eggs to run Dundee FC.

If you propose it a the AGM, I'll second it.

As one of the, by the sounds of it, two members of the board who are actually a member of ArabTRUST, that is possible. However, I shall be a-travelling over the weekend - and nowhere near Dundee, so leave these changes to Chippy to implement.
