I don't know, possibly cardboard and wallpaper paste, but I don't care either. I could - literally, Jeff - eat one of those pie cases filled with just their gravy. Best pies ever, and as Dundonians, we know our pies.

As has been said above, Gomis was back to about 80% of his best. One of the calmest players I've ever seen in the SPL when in possession. Seemed to be stuck out wide right in the first half, but was great when moved back inside. 8

I'm much more comfortable with young Douglas Barry in midfield as opposed to defence, but despite some passable crossing, just got fouled a lot. 5

I'm a fan, but didn't think Gomis was that good. He was decent, but often passed into trouble or ran into people. Didn't really get many challenges in either. He wasn't bad, but seen a lot lot lot better.

And Douglas I though was actaully one of our more important players. He had load of energy, drove forward well, and was fouled a lot as I think they saw him as a threat. Did well in air too and got into the box too. Bit mixed final ball, but still good I'd say.

Hmmm. I want him to be good, but I don't see much creativity from Douglas. I also can't decide whether he's a really deep-lying winger, or a really forward-thinking wing-back. Which, of course, amounts to much the same thing.

Nobody's that interested, and the frog dies etc...

It was, in short, a shit game. Really awful. It was the first game I can remember where I missed a goal while actually watching. Glanced at the top bar on BBC Bringyourfiddle at about 80 minutes and was genuinely perplexed to see us 1-0 up, as I could've sworn I'd paid attention to the previous 79 minutes of mince. Maybe it was the combination of monotony and the gathering fog, which gave an insight into what cataracts must be like, that caused my brain to go into auto shutdown.

The best bit was an interview with Ian Cathro at half time. I'm a bit wary of this primary school hothousing stuff (wouldn't it be nice to do the same for potential scientists, or writers?) but he certainly talks a convincing strategy.

Can you fill in the details for those not present?

Primary school kids (all of whom had Bieber haircuts) getting excused from first classes every single day to mess about in the gym, then being effectively ghettoised in their own little superstar clique for the remainder of the day. All were track-suited up in full United branding. Interviews with Cathro (who has the vocabulary of a motivational speaker and the delivery of a university postgrad) and the school headmaster (who seemed a bit brainwashed and kept mentioning academic achievement, even though the programme seemed to be promoting the exact opposite). Lots of general stuff about kids going on to the "European marketplace" and big props for Levein for being the driving force behind setting it up. Some, but not quite enough stuff about the likelihood of nearly all the kids failing to make it.

Part of me thought, "yay United for employing such an impressive and ambitious individual." Another part of me thought "Soviet gymnasts."

Just noticed that in 6 and 1/2 months we won only 7 times in the league, we've now won 4 times in 16 days! :banjmp:

No wonder the fans have been a bit meh for most of the season so far, however like last year we're hitting a run of form at just the right time.

The team undoubtedly needs a rest but it's almost a shame that we'll have a break due to the International fixtures soon.

You went a bit Woody Allen in "Love and Death" there at the end Naebody... ;)
