It would be good if Stephen Thompson could subsidise the buses for the replay.
:haha: :haha: :haha:
Considering the recent thread on Thommo Jnr, I'm giving gordo big ups for his semi-serious, semi-baiting post. Caught an Egg-fish! :banshk:
The humour was in the allusion to the thread. Gordon doesn't strike me much of a baiter. A 'bater, maybe, but that's another matter.

Must admit I had to resist replying "and why the f*ck would he do that?". But luckily, I did. And still have.

I see, so you were actually laughing at gordo's epic humour rather than at the suggestion that Thommo Davis Jnr Jnr would put on buses?

Well, not just that. More so, perhaps, that Gordon was alluding to it and poking fun at ST (knowing full well that ST won't do such a thing) at the same time. It worked on more than one level :banjmp:

I'm lost. Is this a bit of reverse-psychology, hoping that he will put buses on now, just to show us? (I guess I've just f*cked it if it was...)
The game itself was a bit weird. Flat and listless from both us, the crowd, and the players. Initially, I thought the team were thinking they'd just stroll through the game and win but it became clear, second-half especially, that they were just shattered.
We played well though despite this. Some tidy play without penetrating much. An over-reliance on Swanson, coupled with some mega-tippy-tappy stuff, meant most moves broke down in the final third.
Defence looked okay, although the full-backs were a little shaky and, by god, Watson can dither on the ball!
Midfield did very well considering they were tired and outnumbered. But the three-man idea, presumably to open up some space, just shifted the problem to the forward three, resulting in the mentioned difficulty in getting through/round them.
The referee was, frankly, bizarre. Stopping play when it should have continued and missing obvious decisions. Weird.
I think we'll beat this mob in a few weeks. I may even go.

edit - how motherwell ended up with only one booking is beyond me. Lasley could have had three alone.
Curious BBC highlights too. No footage of Jeffer's challenge on Prince, the Swanson 'dive', Dillon getting almost knocked out or Goodie getting cleaned out on the touchline...

Alas, such a backward nation of inbreds as we are are unable to fathom highlights longer than 5mXXsecs

Are the BBC contractually bound to show a pishly lengthed set of highlights for each game, or is it laziness/resource-constrained/halfwittery? Even a truly gargantuan 10 minutes per game would be an enormous improvement.

Conway's quote from the Courier certainly explains his below par performance -
Quote:

"I wanted to do my bit to help us get into the semi-final but it reached a stage where enough is enough.

"In hindsight, I should have just sat it out. I didn't do myself any justice because balls I would normally get to, I wasn't getting near."

As for Watson, I'm undecided on his potential, Levein always spoke very highly of him but even after a long run in the team he's starting to look very one dimensional.

His attacking play seems to go like this: receives ball, runs forward, looks to play incisive ball, decides against that, lumps long looping hopeful ball to back post...

That's probably a bit harsh as he's a converted Centre Half and his lack of inventiveness is no doubt exaggerated by how often he receives the ball without many options on ahead of him, but it would be interesting to see whether we improve when we can get Big Mick or possibly Dillon back in that role. Though if we're looking for inventiveness going forward....
