Now that the boring "league" stage of the "Champions" League has ended and the knockout phase has begun, the whole competition starts to get interesting. So interesting in fact that I actually start to pay attention to it.

So, from Tuesday night, Italian football certainly isn't what it used to be, what with Totts winning at Milan. Hilarious Gattuso/Jordan skirmish, too.

Missed the game last night, but the pics of Jordan/Gattuso were pretty funny. The main event is tonight, though. Really looking forward to it!

I thought the best thing about the game last night was Ray Wilkins.

Should be good set of games, and I forgot Rangers were still in europe.

Ooh, that was a good game. I was quite noisy when Arshavin scored.

His ignorant jingoism was such a surprise that I had to turn down the sound.

Very true. The respect Milan afforded Spurs was far too great. Playing with two defensive midfielders (Gattuso and Flamini, both of whom should've been sent off) and a centre half in midfield (Thiago Silva) and Clarence Seedorf in midfield is dreadfully negative. Only in the second half did they show the urgency required (and then overbalanced, leaving 2 v 2).

That said, if an Italian side played as Spurs did, they'd have been slated by the British media as defensive bastards.

I don't blame you. Given that Barca had had a good goal disallowed (Messi in the first half) and a clear penalty not awarded (with the mandatory sending off) before Arsenal barely had a sniff in the second half, it was quite a shock!

Not a particularly original thought, considering Tyldesley was drooling about it all match, but Wilshere had a really good game - considering the company he was in, I thought he was very impressive. Should Barca drop their interest in Fabregas and go for the younger, better option?

Koscielny was also superb.

Barca the usual level of excellence. If Messi had scored one of the several clear chances or the disallowed goal, the game could have been over.

I thought he was quite balanced...

He's less excitable and cliched as Gray anyway.

And don't tell me you didn't like him when he did the Italian football on C4 years ago?

Balanced? Maybe compared to Gray and Tyldsley, but he was quite clear about who he wanted to win. The "Robinho never tracks back" comment was tired and ill-informed. He's clearly not watched Milan this season, because if he did he'd know that's not the case.

I usually do like his turn of phrase, regardless of Football Italia, and whoever was playing. I've not heard him so ignorant before.

Was definitely improvement, I'm not sure there are any neutral pundits for these games or internationals, so like the ones that at least aren't irratating. Unlike Tyldsley or Gray I didn't have the sound down for once.

Pundits are always like the opposing fans who think one of our players is really great, even though we don't like them.

I didn't understand that the ex-Chelsea player would want Spurs to beat a team he used to play for, and one he professes a great affection for.

I know, it seemed like he forgot which of the two teams he used to play for. Surprising, as I liked him when he used to do Football Italia. A bit of bias is to be expected, but the commentary on Tuesday night was virtually unlistenable. Messrs Tyldesley and Townsend were saints last night in comparison.

I f*cking hated him when he did Football Italia. He was never interesting or enlightening. Just because he was the first pundit to use the phrase "great technique" or show an interest in foreign football didn't make him good.
