Let's add some context. "Doing something stupid" was driving at 124 miles per hour while f*cking around with an iPod. As a result, he killed someone. He was directly responsible for their death. I'm sure that'll haunt his every moment for the rest of his days.

I'm fine with him going back to his job, even if that happens to be for us. The law considers him punished and/or rehabilitated enough to rejoin society, so that's that. The fact that he killed someone would, however, put considerable jaundice on every goal celebration and Facebook-snapped night out at Fat Sams.

On a more mundane level, he was rubbish for us first time around and I doubt two years in prison would have been improving to his trade, except perhaps in the area of ball control.

That's a bit harsh i think. The team wasn't quite playing great as far as I can remember, and he showed a fair bit of promise, if not quite there yet. As he was at the time, I'd put more money on him to score than Shala. What he's like now, I've not idea, but we'll hopefully find out.

3 goals in 14 games doesn't really seem too useful, but I'd overlook it for someone whose play looked interesting/exciting/energetic and looked like coming onto a game, which Robertson didn't. Due to the nature of his conviction, I don't think Robertson should be reapplying for employment in the entertainment industry.

Given our media image at the moment I can't believe Houston would consider this. There is a serious lack of discipline around United at the moment and we're slowly souring our reputation.

Why not? Are entertainers expected to be good drivers?

And whoa! Wait a minute! Football is entertainment? I've always thought watching United was punishment for not being fancy enough as a child to say I preferred poetry.

I fully admit to mixed feelings. I do feel uneasy any time I see Lee Hughes celebrating when he scores on Sky Sports or wherever...although his was worse as he was drunk and he left the scene of the accident. Ditto Marlon King. I realise that he's rehabilited in the eyes of the law, and I'm sure he is genuinely sorry for what he did (at least, I hope so). I also realise people do deserve second chances, otherwise a large section of society is written off. I just feel uneasy that his "second chance" involves him playing for Dundee United. Maybe that makes me a hypocrite.

Who'd have thought football could be such a dangerously angsty pasttime?

I'm all for 2nd chances, and 3rd actually. Lack of remorse and introspection is what I'm not keen on. Quite simply though, in footballing terms, I'm not sure Jordan Robertson is the answer to a short-term Daly replacement. Though given our fixture pile-up, just getting a body in the door might be wise.

I actually did have to double check that with Wikipedia, though being a communal encyclopaedia I remain unconvinced..

To be honest, Skelmeister, I think the general assumption is that you have lost it with just about everyone and everything.

Tell me about someone you haven't lost it with.
