Hm. Better showing second-half but, despite the quality delivery for the goal, Conway's decision making in the last ten minutes probably cost us. Swanson looked good and shook things up when he came on. How annoyed was Ljungberg at the end when he was (legally) bounced off the park by Scott Robertson (I think..)?! Tit. Nice to see us still going for it in injury time though. Edited by reekie, Feb 13 2011, 02:01 PM.

I thought, given the high quality opposition and pretty awful conditions, that wasn't a bad showing by United. Dreadful luck for their first two goals, though we didn't defend very well on either, and we played some good stuff now and again. Celtic were very fortunate to finish with all their men, and a sending off followed by a goal a minute later may have made all the difference. Agreed that Conway chose the wrong option every time after it went to 1-3: he needs to be more of a team player than that, whether he's leaving or not. Still, that's one of the hard ones out of the way: now we have to put in the same effort and running v Hamilton and their ilk. A win midweek is a must as we have another tough fixture next weekend. |

Yep, and because United did lose, it stops the chance of the players being complacent at the weekend. Or if not stops, then lessens the chance. While at the same time, the morale stays high, despite the defeat, which can in some ways be put down the bad luck. Silver linings, etc. Makes a big change from when we were just looking for a negative three goal deficit at home to them. That Lennon really is a dislikeable bastard, though. I never felt the same towards O'Neill (who was a dick at times) or Strachan. He just seems like a nasty, spiteful man. |

I wasn't really happy with much about the way we played. I didn't like the formation or the appraoch in the first half, which didn't work. A packed midfield who tackled each other more than the opposition, and didn't create much. Only threat was Conway, but not that much. Defence wasn't that good, Dixon's passing was terrible and lot of gaps. I guess the conditions weren't great and we were playing a good team, but we didn't offer much. Even in the second half when we had more space and passed better, we looked like we'd concede given enough time. I miss the solid but possession apprach we used to have against rangers and celtic. Sure we worked hard enough at times, but it wasn't getting us anyplace. They all had too much space. Ref was average. Celtic looked decent, can see Lennon's having an impact on the team, they're not as fragile as they were, but we still could have got lukcy and got something, but didn't really deserve anything. 4/5 the midfield could be gone next year, so we'd better start getting any replacments in mind. |

I agree with all of this except the comment on the ref - who I thought was good. Scott Robertson was as bad as Dixon for giving the ball away. When will the old Scotland International Scott Robertson return? |

I thought he returned around 60 mins in after Buaben and Gomis went off. He was well off the pace and sloppy in marking and passing before that, but after, i thought he was much better. Not a critisism of Buaben or Gomis who I both really like, but it doesn't work with these three in the middle. I don't mind a 5 across the middle, but just not these three. Only issue for the ref was i thought he was a little inconsistent, wilson was a little lucky, but i'd never have booked him for the half hearted crowd celebration anyway. And I forgot my highlight of the match, which was Pernis pretty much refusing to bend down for the huddle and standing up for it mostly. |

I thought we played okay yesterday and might have won the game if fortune had fallen the other way. I've not seen a replay of the goal that the baldie horse's arse scored, but it looked like the third deflected goal of the game from where I was sitting. Best chances of the first half fell to Buaben and Goodie and the second half shot from Goodie which the keeper deflected over the ball could as easily have fallen in. So, ACTUALLY, we were a baw's hair away from winning four:nil. Then there was the one which was nipped off Goodie's toe in the second half when he was set to put it away. Five:Nil. Against the league leaders. That's championship winning form. . . Anyhoo, we were obviously the better team in the second half when we took half the central midfield off. Much better balanced and less temptation to play pointless four yard passes round in circles. Nice to see Swanson, Conway and Goodie all playing together again. I think those three were largely responsible for our best attacking form last season. Russell looks like he'll fit in well with them. |

Having seen it on the telly the first two goals I would credit as OGs as neither had a hope of going in until bouncing off Kenneth and Dillon. Third goal they scored was actually not bad from their point of view, although I wonder about the tactical genius that assigned Duckboy to block Majstorovic's run. Surprised that one didn't work. Wilson was lucky not be sent off, Goodie was unlucky with the one that squirmed under Forster and over the bar, but then there was nothing wrong with what should've been their fourth goal. Some thankfully amateur linesmanship for that one. I must've been taking the wee man to the toilet when Hooper did his kick the ground instead of pass into the net routine, but it was hilarious on the telly. I enjoyed the game, but have to admit Sellick were just that wee bit better. The f*cking c*nts that they are. |

I thought we played pretty well to be honest. I thought we gave them a competitive game. I didn't like the formation, and it Gomis still looks like his mind is on his move to Cardiff or Swansea or whatever middling Championship side he pitches up at. Scotty Robertson looked like he has never been able to stop a ball in his puff. And did Dixon make one successful pass all afternoon? What was interesting, I thought, was that Swnason and Davie Robertson had a really effective 10 mins after we scored in the middle of the park. I thought Swanson played with a real vigour and flare and DR must have made about several big tackles and moved the ball on well. But all in, Celtic deserved the win, but as a game to watch I thought it was pretty enjoyable and we played a decent part of that. |
