I think that's probably a fair sentence, certainly more than your average speeding twat would get.
What is the average sentence for 95mph in a 40mph zone?
I would have expected a fine plus a short ban or even just points on the licence, although I'm by no means an expert. 100 hours community service is quite a substantial sentence given that there was no victim in this case (luckily for Kovacevic).
My contact in the courts tells me he could have got a custodial sentence for it. Although I'm puzzled how the original speed of 104 has become 94 by the time it got to court.

My point was simply that in the context, as I understand it, this is towards the heavy end of what could be expected.
Fair enough. I've no idea what the average is.

He must be a pretty shit driver though, based on his excuses. Maybe he should need to take his test again.
Indeed. Quite worrying that a chap driving at 95mph can't distinguish between a road sign and a railway sign.
A foreign chap. Who is also a footballer....

Unfamiliarity with local signs + low IQ = speeding because you think you might be a train.
I fully expect this new personality trait to be exhibited when he returns to the first team. :smack:

Slow, always late, too expensive and in constant need of repair?

No thanks....

It's plea bargaining isn't it? His lawyer has haggled for a reduction in charge if he cops a guilty plea: this saves the Court system the expense of a trial so would appear to be in everyone's interest. It seems to happen all the time, whether it's right or not: even really serious charges appear to get downgraded in this way.

And the sentence seems about right, and more or less what I'd have expected. Custody wasn't impossible, right enough, but highly unlikely for a first time offender.
